In this video, I break down the hypocrisy of the classic "I have a black friend" defense often used by racists to mask their bigotry, drawing a direct comparison to conservative commentator Sara Gonzales. Known for her aggressive anti-Indian and anti-H1B rhetoric, Gonzales recently paraded several Indian supporters at a Republican event in Dallas, Texas, to shield herself from accusations of racism. One of these supporters, Surya Vidiyala, CEO of the IT firm Mass Infosys and president of a Texas Hindu coalition, went as far as claiming to speak on behalf of all Indian-Americans and Hindus. I strongly reject his self-appointed role as our spokesperson. Culturally, I am a Hindu and an Indian-American, and he absolutely does not speak for me.

I question the underlying motives behind Vidiyala's vocal support for someone who actively campaigns against immigrant workers. Considering Gonzales has been aggressively working with Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton to target IT consultancies and H-1B "ghost offices" for alleged fraud, I point out the potential opportunism of an IT body shop CEO cozying up to her. I also challenge his shallow definition of success—simply making money by age 35—as fundamentally unrepresentative of Indian or Hindu philosophies. I conclude by directly inviting Surya to a civil, unfiltered debate to discuss his political alignment with a cult-like party and his enabling of figures who actively harm legitimate immigrant businesses through unproven fraud accusations.
