In this segment of my video, I led a candid discussion with Kiran and Murali exploring the recent cultural clashes and political backlash directed at Indian-Americans. I addressed the hateful rhetoric propagated by figures like Sara Gonzales and Ken Paxton, strongly defending our cultural habits, such as eating with our hands and speaking Telugu in our own homes. As the conversation deepened, Kiran analyzed the voting patterns in the recent Frisco City Council elections, noting a subtle but growing resistance against Indian-American candidates. Murali and I then shared our personal experiences with systemic discrimination when running for academic leadership positions. Finally, I steered the conversation to examine how inherent tribalism and caste dynamics affect our own diaspora organizations, bringing light to the internal challenges we face as a community.
