“You are almost a responsible adult now. I don’t like to tell you what is right. Act responsible and do the right thing.” This is what my father wrote and sent to me on the back of a memo from my college principal’s in which the principal warned my father of severe consequences for my skipping classes. That note from my father served me well back then as his son, just as well as it served me as a father now.
